GATHER

What is GATHER?

GATHER is our program that builds relationships with other artists, actors, performers, -all and any creatives- throughout Chicago to connect, collaborate, and activate to support local organizations. We believe connecting and engaging in the spirit of uplifting and supporting causes (in and out of the arts) will bring change and boost advocacy.


At its core, the program creates space for artists to ask and explore the question: “What now?” and the hope is to help find some answers.

How?

In partnership with a community-based organization or project, we GATHER to offer capacity through volunteering, storytelling, or art making. We aim to be a creative bridge and engage with communities desiring to build something unique. Every Activation begins and ends with a Circle, using practices inspired by Restorative Justice Circle Keeping.

Why?

As artists, we are also members of our community. As activists, we want to create change. We want to acknowledge and honor that community building- connecting with each other is necessary and powerful. GATHER has always been about relationship building and engaging with each other; through the years we realized we were operating in the isolation of our artistry. Volunteering with a variety of organizations is an active and intentional way to see the humanity in each other and make our city a better place.

CURRENT ACTIVATION

We invite you to share your gifts and talents with the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood at the Gary Comer Youth Center for their upcoming Halloween Fest and November's event: Give Thanks.
